The picturesque Township of Holmdel situated in central Monmouth County covers a little more than 18 square miles. Established in 1857 from a portion of Raritan Township, Holmdel was home to Bell Labs and it was here that Robert Woodrow Wilson and Arno Penzias discovered evidence of cosmic microwave background radiation while working on the Holmdel Horn Antenna that earned them the Noble Prize in Physics in 1978. The PNC Bank Arts Center is a 10,800 seat outdoor amphitheater that hosts numerous concerts and events, namely during the spring, and summer months. Adjacent to the Arts Center is the NJ Vietnam Veterans Memorial which opened in 1995.

Both of these parks are run by the Monmouth County Park System. Holmdel also owns Bayonet Farm. A one of a kind 240 acre preserve with farmlands, historic buildings, and miles of trails.
